Cameron Carpenter & International Touring Organ: In Residence

25.01.2021 - 30.09.2021

The American organist and composer Cameron Carpenter begins a long-term residency with his “International Touring Organ” (I.T.O.) at Alte Münze (The Old Mint) Berlin in February 2021. Designed by Carpenter and heard in hundreds of concert halls around the world since 2014, the organ takes full advantage of the reverberant acoustic at the mint’s large central hall. Broadcasting, recording, collaborations and live events are planned. The organ console and supercomputer, which disassemble into touring cases, will remain mobile, allowing Carpenter to continue to tour the organ to open-air venues when Corona regulations permit.

At the same time, the Prägehalle is available for external productions, concerts and events. The visual highlight of the hall is a permanently installed 270-degree panoramic screen with a length of 55 meters, which can be fed with individual video content via seven high-performance projectors. More information about this year’s program and the protagonists will be announced at a press conference in the Alte Münze.
