Corona Culture is a digital exhibition experience as well as an online sociocultural program that explore how the current pandemic affects our values, relationships, yearnings, and future plans. The project presents a mosaic of perspectives on uncertainty and investigates into the threats and possibilities we encounter in this time of radical transformation.
The project was originally intended to be an IRL (in real life) exhibition with a vibrant evening program spread across 4000m2 of the historic Alte Münze, situated in the heart of Berlin. The former mint is the home to an interdisciplinary cultural centre where more than 50 artists and cultural activists have their studios. However, the ever-extending lockdown conditions have led the project to expand into the virtual space. What results is a remarkable online experience that uniquely fuses moving image, photography, 3D design, sound-based work, performance, sculpture, and installation. Eventually there will also be an IRL exhibition and program at Alte Münze, with a new projected opening date set in the autumn of 2021.
After one year of working on this project, navigating fluctuating uncertainties, as well as constantly changing regulations, the Transition Institute is thrilled to invite you on this magnificent journey, featuring over 100 emerging and established artists and cultural creators from around the world.
The sociocultural program’s events and workshops launch on Thursday, April 29, and are open for sign up through the Corona Culture website, IG and FB.
