The takeover is rammed with emotional vibes *
@ctmfestival what they say: Following our massive concert with
AKA HEX, femtanyl and Takkak Takkak, NYC’s Surf Gang returns for a full takeover of the Maschine floor.
Co-founder Eera fuses trap’s hard-hitting percussion with sugary 2000s pop hooks, while fellow founder evilgiane shapes the pulse of alternative rap with ethereal productions spanning underground cult favorites and mainstream icons. fakemink brings nocturnal introspection to jerk-inspired rhythms, and Lauren Duffus‘ witch house atmospherics and mournful drill chords channel cinematic cemetery moods.
ANTHEM reassembles fragments of sound into kaleidosonic mosaics that journey through the surreal, and Europa’s music stretches pop and club anthems into pixelated, glittering fragments, echoing the liminal spaces they’re birthed in.
On the Cage floor, Jamira Estrada merges classical electroacoustic training with gut-punching beats rooted in dubstep and techno, supporting femme and non-binary artists through workshops. Modulaw blends hyper-futuristic drill and 3D audio, turning sound into immersive architecture, while PEB’s visceral mix of industrial, punk, and noise rock is a Grand Guignol spectacle of sonic horror. Hassan Abou Alam’s interplay of analog warmth and digital precision pushes the boundaries of bass, breaks, and noise, while Loto Retina fuses reggaeton, balle funk, and experimental electronics in a live premiere dripping with raw sophistication. Tati au Miel’s late-night DJ set promises a hard-hitting exorcism, collapsing binaries with industrial abrasion and spectral echoes of Black folklore. It’s a night of debauched aural pleasures and boundary/body-shattering performances.
